Ensuring AI agents stay secure and aligned with human values.
AI is redefining how software operates—but without safety, governance, and oversight, AI agents and LLMs introduce risk. At ThirdLaw, we’re tackling one of the biggest challenges of our time: ensuring AI agents operate safely, securely, and in alignment with human intent.
Our Story
Every day, companies race to harness generative AI, eager to unlock groundbreaking opportunities. Yet, many quickly encounter a dilemma: how to safely manage AI’s immense power without slowing down innovation. ThirdLaw emerged from this tension.
We created ThirdLaw to give enterprises AI safety tools that keep pace with AI’s rapid evolution, ensuring each step forward is secure, compliant, and aligned with human values.
About our Founder
Ed Albanese, Founder and CEO
Raised in a blue-collar household, Ed learned resilience, adaptability, and a strong work ethic—values that have shaped his 30-year career in software.
Ed has helped shape some of the biggest shifts in enterprise technology—from virtualization at VMware, defining the Big Data era at Cloudera and MongoDB. At Splunk, he was a member of the senior leadership team and led the launch of Splunk's Operational Technology Security solutions. Most recently, he launched Vectara, one of earliest LLM-powered software companies (before ChatGPT introduced generative AI to the public).
Now, as Founder and CEO of ThirdLaw, Ed is dedicated to ensuring AI agents and LLMs evolve responsibly—balancing innovation with security and governance.

Why "ThirdLaw"?
Our name comes from two influential ideas:
Isaac Asimov’s Third Law emphasizes balancing power and control, aligning with our vision that AI must remain beneficial through responsible governance.
Newton’s Third Law—for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction—highlights our role in counterbalancing AI's growth with necessary oversight and compliance.
At ThirdLaw, we provide the tools enterprises need to keep AI powerful, yet safe.
The Minds Behind ThirdLaw
